TEXT can be used in a myriad of ways. Some logos are merely stylized text, where other companies just use a certain standard font for their company name. With the myriad of text altering software out there, there is little limit and a lot more ease to what can be done with text. Typestyler and it's ilke are the most user-friendly. Adobe Illustrator and Aldus Freehand (or any vector-based program) can do quite a bit to customize text. Of course, there's always Photoshop, which is almost limitless in it's capabilities with text just as it is with images.
Don't be fooled by these seemingly easy means. When not in the hands of an artist, these tools will usually produce ugly, illegible or just plain unprofessional logos and titles.

Below are a number of samples done with a combination of the afore-mentioned programs, as well as using hand-illustration. These are a myriad of logos, mastheads, t-shirt designs and more. Just click on the images to see them larger in a new window!
