Portraiture, or the realistic rendering of a subject, still has many faces. Without counting caricatures
(which are cartoony, exagerated likenesses) or "comic-book" style illustrations (which I refer to as "Character Portraits"),
then Portraits still break down into 3 categories in my work
There are standard portraits, which is quite simply the replication in art of a person from photograph or live subject.
Then, there's my specialty, Fantasy Portraits, which are the same style, but incorporate fantastic elements, such as making
the subject a faerie, sports hero, mermaid, knight, etc.
Finally, there are Pet Portraits. The only difference here is that the subject is an animal, not a person.
